The deadline for submitting to the Economics Graduate Studies Office registration requests for Non-economics courses, Consortium courses, Dissertation proposal credits (ECON 998), and Dissertation research credits (ECON 999) is August 1, 202 for the Fall 2023 semester. Details regarding each of these types of requests, including the required information and the required email for submitting information, can be found through the following links from the department website:
Non-economics courses
Consortium courses
Directed Reading and Research
Dissertation Proposal Credits (998)
Dissertation Research Credits (999)
Any request that does not meet the specified deadline and/or that does not follow the guidelines posted on the department website (through the links above) will be discarded without a response. It is the responsibility of students to carefully read the department website and follow the specific instructions listed.
The only exception to this policy is for students who are waiting on field exam results to determine if they are able to register for ECON 998 (Dissertation Proposal credits). Students in this situation must submit two programs of study to the Economics Graduate Studies Office at econgrad@gmu.edu by the request registration deadline listed above - August 1, 2023 for the Fall 2023 semester. One program of study plan should assume that the student passes the field exam(s) and the second should be a contingency plan detailing the student's plan if they fail the exam. Failure to submit the correct details to the correct email address by the deadline listed above will result in the student being unable to register for ECON 998 until the following semester.
Any requests for exceptions to the above must be submitted in writing to the Director of Graduate Programs, Professor Carlos Ramirez.
