Having a degree in economics prepares students for a wide variety of exciting career options and choosing the program at George Mason University has a number of distinct advantages for our students. When you enroll in our program, you will join an academic community with talented and engaged students from all over the world and you will have the chance to interact with accomplished and renowned faculty who are well-known for their teaching, writing, and scholarship.

Our undergraduate program has two options for a degree, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BS).

Mason undergraduate students also have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Arts, or a Bachelor of Science in Economics completely online.

We also offer two types of concentrations, one in Managerial Economics (available for the BS only) and one in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) (available for the BA and the BS) as well as an economics minor option.

This online undergraduate degree experience maintains the same quality of coursework and instruction as available with in-person courses.

For our most talented students, we have opportunities for advanced study in economics that include pursuing your own research ideas through an undergraduate thesis experience or getting a head start on graduate school by enrolling in our accelerated master’s degree program.

All in all, we have resources for all types of students with all types of experiences. Whether you are a first-year student who has just graduated from high school or you are an experienced student with a well-established professional background, we have the resources and academic support you need to maximize your success in our program. Our talented academic advising team will help you to create meaningful class schedules each semester so you can progress through the major in a timely manner. Furthermore, we provide a range of resources from making the most of your transfer credit, to finding complementary study abroad experiences, and to locating resources to support your career development that includes internship for credit options.
