Section Information for Fall 2017
Course Description: The first half of this course introduces concepts relevant to the design of institutions and organizational incentives that improve business practice. This part will consist of a series of short lectures with participation in, and discussion of, demonstration experiments that illustrate different managerial economics concepts. In the second part of the course students work in teams to put the theory learned in the first half of the course into practice. Teams will research a real world problem caused by an institutional design or organizational incentive system and then designing a solution to improve business performance. When you finish this course, you will be able to analyze the incentives produced by different institutional rules in different economic environments and be able to propose changes to improve buisness performance.
