Gareth Markel holds a PhD in economics from George Mason University. His research integrates tools econometrics and genetics to study questions from labor and health economics.

Prior to GMU, he completed a masters degree in applied economics at the University of Alabama, where he also completed his bachelor's degree in 2018.
