Mr. Remien's current fields of study are in Public Choice, Economic Development/New Institutional Economics, and Law & Economics.

Charles Martin Remien is a 23-year-old Ph.D student in Economics at George Mason University. As of August 2025, Mr. Remien will be serving as an instructor of record at George Mason University and will be responsible for independently teaching classes as well as his other academic and research duties. 

Teaching has always been a passion for Mr. Remien, and he looks forward to teaching his first classes during the Fall 2025 semester. 

Current Research

Mr. Remien has several ongoing research projects, some of which are not listed below

Grandparental Childcare Project- A paper investigating the effect of grandparental childcare on fertility intentions

Silver Age of Mercenaries- An expansion of the existing economic theory of Mercenary warfare.

Export Deregulation Project.

Received the Janet Rhines Scholarship in Economics (Fall 2021, Spring 2022 and Fall 2022) 

Courses Taught

Mr. Remien was a graduate teaching assistant for Dr. Rustici for over two years. During this time, he was responsible for over 2000 students for both Econ 103 and Econ 104 classes, providing him with experience in teaching both micro and macroeconomic topics.

Additionally, Mr. Remien was the departmental tutor in Economics at George Mason University (Fall 2023- Summer 2025) for two years, where he provided tutoring to any student taking an economics class, regardless of the professor, multiple times a week. 

Education

Current 3rd Year Ph.D student in Economics at George Mason University.

Received an MA degree in Economics from George Mason University in May of 2025. 

Received a B.B.A degree in Economics with a Minor in History from Baylor University in December 2022.
