Papers with exciting results are more likely to be published. What is the best way to correct for this publication bias? Chen argues that statistical significance should be abandoned in favor of continuous test statistics. Using direct evidence, he reveals the challenges of selective publication.

Andrew Y. Chen is a Senior Economist with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. His current research is on asset pricing and publication bias. He has published academic articles in the Review of Financial Studies and the Finance and Economics Discussion Series (among others). Dr. Chen received a PhD in Finance from Ohio State University in 2014.
