The Economic History Workshop will meet this Friday (4/5) from 1:30 to 3:00 in the Boardroom of the Mercatus Center on the Arlington Campus of George Mason. Carlos Ramirez will present his research on "Anatomy of Bank Contagion: Evidence from Helena, Montana During the Panic of 1893" (co-authored with Wayne Zandbergen).
More information about the seminar is available here:

Please note that after Carlos' seminar Oded Galor will be speaking at Mercatus for the Washington Area Economic History Seminar. The title of his talk will be "Diversity and Development." His presentation will be based off of several research projects, some ongoing, so there is no one paper that encapsulates the topics,"The 'Out of Africa' Hypothesis, Human Genetic Diversity, and Comparative Economic Development" and "Genetic Diversity and the Origins of Cultural Fragmentation."
