The reading group meets five Fridays a semester, from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM, in Buchanan Hall D180 (in person only, an online option is not available).

The readings for this term (Fall 2026) can either be found online or from American Political Writing during the Founding Era 1760-1805 Volume 1 by Charles S. Hyneman and Donald S. Lutz.  

A few copies of the readings may be available for graduate students.  Interested students should write to Michaela Loughran at maloughran014@gmail.com.

Session focus: Stephen Hopkins, "The Rights of Colonies Examined", ch. 6 in book; VA Declaration of Rights, Declaration of Independence.
