PhD Alumnus Erik Matson awarded the Novak Award by the Acton Institute

Each year the Acton Institute selects one person worldwide who earned his or her PhD in the past five years to be awarded the Novak Award, named for Michael Novak. The 2022 Novak Award was awarded to Erik Matson, who received his PhD from the George Mason University Department of Economics in 2017.

The award announcement states: “This award recognizes those scholars early in their academic career who demonstrate outstanding intellectual merit in advancing the understanding of religion’s connection to human dignity, the rule of law, limited government, religious liberty and freedom in economic life.”

Erik is now Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center and works closely with George Mason economics professor Dan Klein, as the Deputy Director of the Adam Smith Program in the economics department.  Links to Erik’s scholarship are found here.

Congratulations, Erik!
