Marcel Gautreau is a 5th year PhD candidate in the Department of Economics. He earned his BA degree in Economics and Political Science from Hofstra University.
His research interests primarily revolve around the origins and distribution of political talent. Besides this, he has an active interest in foreign policy and international relations, primarily in the Middle East, secondarily in Russia, tertiarily in China. He is also interested in the role nuclear energy plays in sustainable development and environmental policy.
Marcel is currently working on his dissertation, which examines the developmental state model of political economy, and its applications to the pre-war Syrian Arab Republic.
