Section Information for Fall 2020
This course cannot be used to fulfill PhD requirements.
This course is designed to introduce students to the application of political economy and institutional analysis for understanding crises and analyzing crisis management and public policies. Crises (leading to destruction and uncertainty) impact all societies, and can be natural (such as hurricanes and tornadoes), manmade (such as wars and financial crises), or, often, a combination of the two. Yet, we also often see societies recovering from crises. This course will examine the potential and challenges with individual, community, organizational, and governmental responses to crises through both theoretical and applied perspectives and build the skills necessary to conduct informed policy analysis.
