This course cannot be used to fulfill PhD requirements.

The goals of this course are twofold. The first goal is to acquaint students with the use of political economy to evaluate and critique the efficacy and efficiency of public policies. As such, it is a course in applied microeconomics and is intended to provide an introduction to several important tools for policy analysis. The second goal is to promote the writing and rhetorical skills needed to conduct economic policy analysis. In addition to being graded on class participation, students will be graded on multiple research, writing and presentation assignments.
