Job Level: Paid Internship
Start Date: 1/12/2009
End Date: 5/1/2009
Employer: Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation
Job Description:
The Koch Internship Program was established to develop the next generation of liberty-minded leaders and entrepreneurs. Each spring, summer, and fall the program offers Interns the opportunity to engage in key non-profit projects while learning and applying Market-Based Management®.
During the Washington, DC-based program, Interns spend the majority of their time working on key projects and interacting with outside non-profit organizations. Project assignments include: policy research, non-profit operations, marketing, leadership and talent development, university programs, Market-Based Management, and grassroots education.
This hands-on experience gives Interns the chance to explore the non-profit sector, while applying the management philosophy they are learning from the Foundation. The program also allows them to build a network of like-minded associates. Through interactive exercises, reading discussions, engaging speakers and practical work experience, interns develop knowledge, skills and experience necessary for careers with market-oriented think tanks, policy institutes and other non-profit organizations.
Internships are part-time and flexible, but Interns must be available at least 20 hours each week, including all day on Tuesdays. Spring Interns are paid an hourly rate of $12.00.
The spring program runs from January 12th – May 1st, and the application deadline is December 19, 2008.

The Koch Foundation Job
The Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation was established in 1980 by Charles G. Koch. The mission of the Foundation is to advance social progress and well-being through the development, application, and dissemination of the Science of Liberty™.
The Foundation primarily supports research and education programs that analyze the impact of free societies, in particular how they advance the well-being of mankind. Building on this knowledge, the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation fosters the partnership of scientists and practitioners in order to integrate theory and practice. By doing so, the Foundation strives to develop market-based tools that enable individuals, institutions, and societies to survive and prosper.
Job Description: Career Opportunity Advancing Liberty
The Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2009-10 Koch Associate Program. The Koch Associate Program is a very selective, one year, paid career opportunity for bright, talented young people who are interested in pursuing a career in the non-profit sector. Participants in the program include recent graduates, those with one or more masters’ degrees, JDs, PhDs, and come from a wide range of different backgrounds and academic disciplines.
When pursuing a career, people often don’t realize the great job opportunities that market-oriented non-profit organizations provide for those interested in advancing the ideas of a free society. The Associate Program is a great way to jumpstart that career, because we help Associates develop the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for a successful future with free-market think tanks, policy institutes, or other non-profit organizations.
While in the program, Associates are placed into a full-time role with a reputable organization where they work four days each week. The positions available to Associates cover various fields such as policy analysis, donor relations, program management, legal reform, public relations, and marketing. A full list of the organizations where Associates work along with some examples of project placements can be found on our website. Then, one day each week, Associates come together in a seminar setting at the Foundation to engage in reading discussions and group projects, network with their peers, listen to guest speakers, and learn how to apply Market-Based Management® in a non-profit setting through interactive exercises and workshops.
The Koch Associate Program is highly competitive and selects only the most promising candidates. The Foundation looks for the following attributes in a potential Associate:
• Zero to ten years of work experience
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Commitment to the advancement of liberty
• Leadership ability/entrepreneurial spirit
• Solid academic record
• Strong interest in a non-profit sector career
• Humility, integrity, and a self-starter attitude
Applications are due by March 16, 2009; the program will begin on June 15th, 2009.
The Koch Associate Program is a full-time position. Associates receive a competitive wage and benefits package commensurate with experience and education. We are an equal opportunity employer. M/F/D/V
