Carrie A. Meyer, associate professor of economics, completed a Ph.D in economics at the University of Illinois. Much of her research has focused on institutions, rural development, and issues of environmental politics and economics in Latin America. Dr. Meyer's most recent book, however, is on agricultural history in the U.S. Midwest: Days on the Family Farm: From the Golden Age through the Great Depression , based on a set of farm diaries and ledgers from 1901-1944. She is also the author of The Economics and Politics of NGOs in Latin American and Land Reform in Latin America: The Dominican Case, and numerous journal articles. Before completing her Ph.D, she was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic. She has also served as an associate at the World Resources Institute. In addition to the Dominican Republic, Dr. Meyer has worked in research or technical assistance in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, India, and the Philippines; and she has worked as a consultant on USAID and World Bank projects.
