This class will provide a broad survey of an interesting and exciting field.  As you can tell from the attached reading list, my approach is wide-ranging taking in topics from the economics of culture, institutions, and economic history.  As such this course would be a great complement for those of you interested in pursuing research in institutional economics, public choice, applied micro and economic history.   I intend to teach various techniques and tools used in the papers that we will study as we go.
